i think it needs to be said.....only a traditional monogram, classic on a brooks brothers oxford or pinpoint buttondown 100% cotton. clasic old school, not euro placed inappropriately.

With my last name being only three letters would it be appropriate for me to use it as a monogram or should I just use my initials?

It all depends if you like the way your last name looks printed out. If so, IMO, then yes, it provides a jaunty riff on the tradition.

Oh man, a few days too late: I just ordered an LL Bean OCBD with my three-letter name spelled out. I have two middle names though, so was unable to fit the four letter into the three-initial format. And I used running script. Oh man. I'm going to look like a dog with its name on its collar or someone who pumps gas. I think I'll pick the monogram off.

I am considering an extra-large zip-top boat tote in anticipation of some summer weekends and though I'd refer back to your advice re: monograms. I left amused that I've known a Salty, a Yankee, a Scout and a Bear. My own childhood golden was Morgan, after the Charles W. My parents now have a lower-maintenance King Charles Spaniel, somewhat inappropriately named Mick.

Oh, and you convinced me to go with my instinct: hunter green, block Times.
