There are a great many cable knit sweaters available but none are as consistently on target as the ones offered by Ralph Lauren. The dyes are rich and the hues are right, the cables are of the correct width and the neck opening is not oversized. The cut is generous enough without looking bulky, while lacking that tight and trendy look.

The arms are long enough for just the right amount to turn back and the sweep is just snug enough as not to hang. Good colors include: French Navy; Nantucket Pink; Kayak Green; Baldwin Blue; and Parrot Pink.

Do you prefer men's or women's cable knit sweaters?
Although I wear a great many Men's sweaters, my preference is a well cut Women's version if I can find it. (Mainly because of the shoulder issue and sometimes the length.) All of my cable knit sweaters happen to be Women's.
When it comes to great cable sweaters, my favorites are from Ralph Lauren. I also like my L.L. Bean Double L cable knits from several years back. Although the material was not as good as their current version, the cut was much better, which trumped the material issue. I prefer a boxy, but not huge fit, as I think it looks and feels better.
Where do you find your RL cotton cable sweaters? I simply have bad luck when I look for them!
Hi Hannah - I have been procuring them for many years now, and gotten them from a variety of places. I think your best bet might be a Ralph Lauren Outlet, if you have access to one. I got some of mine from there, and honestly, there doesn't seem to be any difference in quality. I am fairly certain, but not absolutely certain, that they have them now, but I haven't been to one in a while. Some of my traditional sources have either stopped carrying them, (Darien Sport Shop) or have closed (Murray's on the Vineyard).
