What about the sunglasses? Any recommendations for eyewear that is both stylish and provides UV protection?

Yours is the second question I've had on sunglasses this week. In the past I have found it very difficult to combine good looks and good protection, but it does seem as though there are now more options. I like high quality sunglasses and have always bought Maui Jims for their quality, light weight comfort, and that they were always polarized. Their designs, however, were not what I would prefer. I strongly favor the aviator style and Maui Jim now has a new style out called "Pilot". Ray Ban of course always has their classic Aviators. While these are not polarized, they now have some similar designs that are polarized on their site. And check out Revo. I am currently wearing my husband's Revos in the aviator style. Those are the three companies to which I would stick.

And thank you for the New York Times article!

Bean's has frustrated me for years for several reasons, but mainly for the reason you write about-they change what is good and has served many so well for so long. It's too bad, and when I think about how so much used to be manufactured in Maine (Bean's is just up the road from us), their shoes and other goods are now made in China instead. I agree, the pieces you have highlighted are some of their best and Bean's should return to those.

I want them to bring back the ladies quilted riding vest in that beautiful olive green they use to have. Just about the time I decided I (finally) wanted it, it was gone...

What are your favorite colors for the Double L Cotton Sweater?

Hi Hannah - In my opinion, the absolute best is the Navy, although it will not be available until November 3oth, according to their site. (Sounds like one of their colors for spring.) Bright Elm is okay (I have a couple), but it doesn't quite pop enough. I find a lot of their colors frustrating; so many are almost dead on.
