Sailing with KJP

We invited Kiel James Patrick, Sarah Vickers, Hannah, Brendan, and Neal to go sailing today.   Kiel also brought along Fred Castleberry so he could also get some work done.

We had lunch on deck.

Here with Sarah Vickers, Kiel James Patrick, and Fred Castleberry
Newport Harbor always provides some interesting vessels.
My husband's college roommate was again our Captain.

Of course, KJP and FEC also had business to take care of.

And His Fabulous Bracelets and Headbands
A Perfect Green.

We went ashore.

Then someone commented on how hot is was on land, and an idea was formed.

The logistics were worked through.

Locations were scouted...
...until the perfect one was found.
Valuables were removed.

Positions were taken, and...

Gee Whiz! You know all the cool people. Funny thing about KJP...I constantly find myself wanting to say James Kiel Patrick instead of the right way. It just seems to roll off the tongue better. Anyone else do that too?
Alright Muffy, I didn't see you taking the plunge. Did you?
Looked like a fabulous time.

Looks like a fun day. What kind of boat is that? I have a guess but don't want to hazard it. Also, nice UK genoa.

M. these are such superbly exceptional shots. What was the theme? A Prep Summit In RI?

Oh my gosh! What a dream sailing crew! The entire contents of your boat looks straight out of a Northeast Preppy Photoshoot!

What a great group of ship mates! Looks like the perfect day for a sail.

Muffy,

No offense, your blog is great. For someone who values authenticity, I just cant help but feel that this crowd is exploiting the Preppy Is In movement and will not be wearing the same clothes in 10 years. Also, a man using three names (not to mention selling bracelets) is not prep.

Just my thoughts. I could be jealous of the fun though.

I envy you for the Trip. Nice to get helpful suggestions what kind of stuff to buy. I already have the red shorts.

Greetings from Kiel, Germany

@sSe - Definitely full of northeast preppies!

@ThePreppyTimes - We all had a great time, with many sunburns to prove it!

@PinkPolkadotAA - Aren't they beautiful, though?

@PPC - It was a hot day, but so much better on the water. (As most things are!)

@Anonymous - I genuinely love his products and respect the way he makes them. Everyone on the boat was extremely well-mannered, fun and looked great. I'm good.

@Anonymous - Kiel, Germany! Fun!

@raizans - That is brilliant! Let's hope.

@prepp - Mine too.

Wow I am insanely jealous of your day out on the water. Y'all looked like the preppiest crew in Newport.

Incredibly jealous. We are headed to the shore this weekend, but I am positive the company will not be as fantastic. Wonderful post and pictures.

Love the teak decks on that Swede!
Plenty of wet traction and they stay cool in the hot sun.

What great pictures! You definitely have a beautiful sailboat. Looks like it was a fun day for everyone!

That looked like a good day out. I trust you told KJP to do up the second-from-top button on his OCBD!

Anonymous said...

Telling an adult to button a button would be quite obnoxious, and not the least bit gracious.

Muffy Aldrich said...

@Anonymous 5:43 - You are so right! (I think the commenter was joking.)

Jovan said...

Nothing wrong with leaving the first two buttons undone on an OCBD, especially if it has 7-8 buttons and they're spaced closely together. That's exactly what I did today, actually. Any more and you start to channel Saturday Night Fever, but YMMV.
