I have never had business cards for my blog because, well, it's not a business. But there is often enough that awkward moment when the blog comes up (typically after the, "Do you mind if I take a picture in here"), and I fumble for a pen to write down the url.
My husband surprised me with 50 cards, from moo.com. He put pictures from the blog on one side and the web address on the other. Now, keeping in mind that while he is very thoughtful, he is also a cheap Yankee, so he took the company up on their free offer (just shipping), which came with the moo logo on the cards. I have to say, with great printing and paper stock, this is a lot of fun for $5.50!

I LOVE Moo card - well done!
Love them! So simple and perfect. I have been in the same situation of needing a sort of calling card (not for my blog, but for teaching and tutoring) and have yet to find any I like much. I will check out this site!
Vista Print is another site for a frugal Yankee to check out when looking for calling cards and the like.
Muffy, so wonderful! I love the cards and I think it is such a good idea. I will definitely look in to getting some, if the time comes. I hope you are enjoying your week and Happy Wednesday!! Be sure to stop by my blog to check out the redesign!

They look great! Such a great surprise.
they look great!
Muffy - Those are great. It is fun to see some of those pictures again. I have a quick question. I notice that many bloggers do their own version of your entries. Every time I see these ersatz entries, typically a week or two or three after you have posted, I wonder, is this flattering to you or really annoying? Just curious. Keep up the original work.
Ooh, I like your colorful cards! I also have business cards for my web site, Shop the Garment District. I spent money on having a logo professionally designed, and then saved like a cheap Yankee by printing them on my inkjet printer.
What a splendid idea – the photography is gorgeous as is the subject!
Wonderful cards! Great and colorful.
And those are beautiful cards you got for $5.50, Muffy! Very smart New Englander that husband of yours.
I see a great business opportunity here! I would, and so would other people buy sets of note cards embellished with your husbands wonderful eye for photography!
It's fresh and very preppy!
Think about it!
Those are gorgeous, AND a great idea! And I know you say it's not a business, but it seems that it has become an "occupation" of sorts, and a popular niche publication.
Funny, though, on the radio just this morning, I heard about "the death of business cards." Younger people supposedly don't want to mess with them, and they just end up in shoeboxes. It's true that pretty much no one has a rolodex of cards anymore, but I've still always wanted cards for my various jobs (and I'm young...ish.) I think the role they play has shifted a bit - many have become more a creative form of marketing, used (and perhaps) enjoyed by the recipient briefly, and then discarded, rather than being saved as important contact information. They seem to be becoming more popular among certain segments of the population (unemployed seeking work, those with non-traditional jobs and even "moms" who want some sort of calling card.)
Speaking of the great photography (and I agree, notecards would probably sell well) - would you share what kind of camera your husband uses for the photos? I've noticed some other bloggers include camera information in an "about" page if they have particularly good photography.
I have a pretty high-end point and shoot digital camera, but I've been thinking of getting a better digital SLR, as I'm becoming more serious about photography (purely for myself, not for us on a blog.)
@Anonymous 11:23 - He uses a Canon EOS Rebel T2i with the kit lenses, which were included. (He is looking forward to upgrading the lenses.)
You don't have to call them business cards...you can call them...Calling Cards. ;o)
